1. Overview

Gethsemane Baptist Church, located in Danville, Kentucky, is actively seeking a full-time Senior Pastor whom God has chosen to lead us into the future. The candidate will be responsible to God and the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the Bible, to provide Christian leadership in all areas of the church, and to engage in pastoral care for the congregation. The candidate must be ordained or willing to be ordained into the gospel ministry. The applicant must have the ability to develop and deliver biblically sound, Spirit-led sermons and teachings.

2. General Qualifications

  • Meets Qualifications for Pastor (Elder, Bishop, Overseer) in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
  • Demonstrates Calling from God to Pastor a local Church
  • Affirms the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
  • Expository Preaching
  • Biblical Understanding of the Gospel and Sound Doctrine
  • Degree in Theology/Ministry Related field (preferred)
  • Ordination or willingness to be ordained
  • Evidence of sanctification in personal life (growing in personal holiness)
  • Willingness to relocate to the Boyle County area

3. General Duties

  • Oversees all ministries in the Church
  • Maintains a minimum equivalence of 40 hours per week
  • Collaborates with other pastors in the Church in all ministries
  • Oversees staff
  • Coordinates with deacons and participates in visiting the sick, hospitalized, and homebound
  • Officiates Biblical weddings and funerals upon request
  • Provides general counseling (premarital, grief, etc.)

3.1 Evangelism

  • Actively and faithfully shares the gospel in the church and the community

3.2 Missions and Outreach

  • Oversees and facilitates local and international missions efforts
  • Represents the church in community events and organizations
  • Fosters relationships with local community leaders and other churches

4. Salary

  • Total Salary Package: $70,000
